Hebrews 2:1-2

2 So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished.

Doing some research on Hebrews, I have found the Author is unknown, although many believe it to be the apostle Paul. The reason the book of Hebrews was written was to explain who Jesus was and why people should follow him. In the second chapter we are looking at drifting from Jesus. It is an almost inevitable fate many times, but a dangerous one.

I’ve found myself far from Jesus at times and I didn’t even notice. Other times I could feel it. I began to feel it most after I graduated college and baseball was no longer a part of my life. I slowly started filling myself up with the wrong things. These things eventually lead to emptiness.

Once you know Jesus and have a relationship with Him; there is nothing like it. Constantly joyful and thankful for the things in your life. It is a satisfaction that will never leave you, until you decide to leave. How can we prevent ourselves from drifting from Jesus?

I believe it is a daily commitment to growing closer to Him. Jesus wants to teach us new things every day. He wants us to put on a fresh lens and help us look at life in a new way. Allow this to happen and commit yourself to growth.

How can I stay on the right path?

How will Jesus refresh my spirit today?

Dear Lord, remind us how easy it is to drift from you if we get too content. Help us to continually grow and learn. Thank you for your love and grace when we do drift and for never leaving us. Amen.

Have a great day!
