1 Peter 1:2

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

May God give you more and more grace and peace.

As of 2017 there was an estimated 7.53 billion people on earth. An estimated 106.5 billion people have lived on earth since the beginning of time. What makes me so special? The answer to me is simple. God chose you. He didn’t just bring Adam and Eve to earth and say, “let’s see how this goes.” No! He had a plan. You and I are a part of that plan. Once we bring this thought to mind it changes a lot.

Have you ever played kickball or dodgeball? If you have, you know when the two captains pick teams the best are chosen first with the stragglers at the end. When I was younger, I was undersized and my kicking ability was sub par (in a bad way). Therefore often times I was chosen last. Makes sense why I stuck to baseball. It was hard knowing you weren’t wanted. I felt like I had to earn everything and prove to others I was good enough to be chosen.

The passage above tells us everything we need to know about God’s perspective on this. There are no last picks. We are always picked first in God’s eyes. He chose us. He chose you. Our past, our present, they don’t matter to Him. God leaves our mistakes in the past and loves us right where we are at.

We should do the same for others. As you know, everyone sins and falls short of the glory of God. But everyone is chosen. Lets quit holding things against people. Lets quit judging people for their past. Lets start seeing others as chosen sons and daughters of God. Only then will we start to see the world shift in incredible ways.

Do I live my life as a chosen son/daughter of God?

How can I start seeing others this way?

Dear Lord, thank you for choosing us and allowing us to choose you. You are so loving. We thank you. Amen.

Have a great day!

C. Lyman
