1 Peter 1:24-25
24 As the Scriptures say,
“People are like grass;
their beauty is like a flower in the field.
The grass withers and the flower fades.
25 But the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
This is sometimes hard for me to grasp. Often times I need to remind myself I won’t be young forever. You learn the value of life most when you lose someone close to you. The reality doesn’t tend to set in until a moment like this.
The first person I ever lost to death was my Granny Jan. She was one cool chick. She always had the best style and could rip on the piano. I remember the day I got the call. It was my freshman year of college and my dad told me. It was a little unreal at first. Then the realization moment happened. I wouldn’t see her on this earth again. I cried more than I had in a while. Thankfully I was soon told I would see her again.
I believe with all my heart my grandma is in heaven. Her death taught me to not take the small moments for granted. Losing her taught me I could lose someone at any moment. It showed me how valuable lives are. Every single persons life.
Jesus knew what he was doing when he made us. He knew what He was doing when he was living out the gospel. This truth will not fade away. This truth will guide us through life. The Bible can give us eternal life if we listen closely. It will never fade away.
How can I take advantage of today?
Dear Lord, give us peace. Give us guidance. We love you with all we have. Amen.
Have a great day!
