1 Peter 3:8-9
8 Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. 9 Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.
“If one horse can pull 700 pounds and another horse can pull 800 pounds, how much weight will they pull yoked together? The answer may surprise you. The two horse team will pull their own weight plus the weight of their interaction. Therefore, yoked together, the horses can pull 3000 pounds!”
Who cares? You should. This tells us a lot about our life. We are stronger together than we are alone. Physically and spiritually. Satan wants us to try and figure this all out by ourselves. He wants us to do it on our own. We are easier to attack. With others, we can find real strength.
Imagine a world if we all had one heart. One mind. One Man. Jesus. You see the impact churches can have when they truly come together for a common goal. Jesus had a team. He had his disciples. They weren’t always on the same page. They definitely had some setbacks, but still were able to spread the gospel across the globe. Just a few men with a goal and a guy, Jesus.
Start doing life together. Someone once told me, you should never eat a meal alone. There is always someone you can invite to grab a meal. If all of us start working together, our community will see change. Lets start thinking about the big picture more and ourselves less.
How can I start being of “one mind”?
Who can I start doing life with more?
Dear Lord, thank you for helping us through this week. Whether it was good or bad doesn’t matter. What matters is you were by our side protecting us. Continue to remind us of this truth, that you and I are always together. Amen.
Have a great day!
