2 Peter 3:14
14 And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.
Not mixed or adulterated with any other substance or material. Without any extraneous and unnecessary elements. Free of any contamination. Wholesome and untainted by immortality, especially that of a sexual nature. Pure.
Sin, as you probably know, makes us impure. If you had a glass of water and put a drop of food dye into it, what would happen? It would spread. This is what sin looks like when it enters our lives. It begins to spread the older we get, unless we do something about it.
Isaiah 1:18 reads, “Come now, let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow, though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.”
Jesus has washed our sins away. We are freed by his sacrifice on the cross, but now what? Do we just do whatever we want. Uh no! God knows our hearts. He knows why we do what we do. He wants to transform our hearts.
I believe being pure means not even thinking about doing the right thing, but just doing it. Not doing good because it makes me look good, but doing it because it makes Jesus look good. Living pure lives glorifies Jesus and makes ours a heck of a lot better.
Am I living in purity?
What do I need to start changing to be more pure?
Dear Lord, you are all powerful and all knowing. We thank you for the opportunity to be white as snow through Your son Jesus. You are so good. Amen.
Have a great day!
