1 John 3:16
16 We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
You know when you see people on social media say, “Happy one month anniversary, I love you babe.” I’m not saying they don’t love each other, but a lot of people use the word love in the wrong way. People use it interchangeably with ‘like’ or ‘enjoy’. Immense difference. I am guilty of it.
I will say I love bbq or I love cherry coke, which I do enjoy. We have all done it in similar ways. It’s not a sin or a bad thing, but we just have to keep in mind what real love is. When we say we love something we don’t want to get into bad habits with our love.
Real love is giving up our lives for our brothers and sisters. Real love is not selfish. Real love is patient and kind. Real love is Jesus. A man who had no faults or sins and gave his life up for everyone with faults and sins. Pretty beautiful image if you ask me
My hope is the world starts to show more real love. Genuine love. Love that doesn’t have an agenda. Love that is bold. Love that is more like Jesus’s love towards us.
Do I show people real love?
How can I show real love better?
Dear Lord, thank you for being an example of genuine love. Help us to learn from you and walk with you. Thank you for loving us right where we are at. Amen.
Have a great day!
