15 “Look, I will come as unexpectedly as a thief! Blessed are all who are watching for me, who keep their clothing ready so they will not have to walk around naked and ashamed.”
First off I want to give a shout out to my dad! Today is his birthday. His name is Tim. If you know him, you know he is the funniest dude in the world. I am so glad God allowed me to be his son. Have a great day dad!
Back to the text, I think our mindset shifts a bit when we read this. The Lord could come back at any moment. Often times I feel like He isn’t coming for a long time. Sometimes I try and convince myself it’ll be after my death. No one really knows, but God. Knowing this, we must be ready.
Thankfully I have never been robbed before. I have had someone come into my room unexpectedly when I was younger. Often times my parents. A lot of the time I would get caught talking to a girl or drinking apple juice right before bed. Not sins, but they sure felt like it!
Being ready for God to come back is a lot of what our life is about. We grow closer to Jesus in order to bring others to know Him. I believe Jesus is coming at the perfect time. I don’t know when that is, but I sure as heck want to be ready like a groom waiting for his bride. Well dressed with a pure heart.
Am I ready for the Lord to come?
When do I think He will come?
Dear Lord, thank you for the reminder of readiness. We should be preparing ourselves and others for Your wonderful return. I pray we are clothed and ready. Amen.
Have a great day!
