Worship.

Revelation 22:9

But he said, “No, don’t worship me. I am a servant of God, just like you and your brothers the prophets, as well as all who obey what is written in this book. Worship only God!”

First off I want to tell you how cool this image is. John is the “he” in this context and he is reminding everyone who is truly worthy of worship. I mean what a humble servant! Can you imagine people falling at your feet and being at a point where your heart knows that no one is worthy but God. Pretty neat.

This leads us right into what I want to discuss. There are many instances where people worship things other than Jesus. Anything that was created by the Creator is not to be worshipped. Only the Creator, God, is meant to be worshipped.

What does it mean by worship. It’s defined as, the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity. Basically treating something with the highest honor of respect and love. People and things are worthy of respect and love, but only One is worthy of our worship.

Why? Well when we start to worship other things or people, these things start to take over our heart. Our heart guides where we go. If we are worshipping a person, our heart starts to be for that person, and then we go where that person goes. Choose Jesus. Worship Jesus. Then your heart will be overtaken and you will start to walk with Him. Its a small action that can lead to tremendous results.

How do I worship Jesus?

What can I do to worship Jesus better?

Dear Lord, thank you for allowing us to worship you. We love that you fill the emptiness within us and that you guide us on a path of righteousness. I pray we enjoy the weekend and take a moment to worship. We love you. Amen.

Have a great weekend!
