3 Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness.
What a defining moment in history. Light entering the world and being separated from the darkness. I feel like there is so much good that happens in the light. Darkness seems to be a place where things are hidden and sin occurs.
I have realized when I am in the darkness bad things tend to happen. My old coaches used to say, “Nothing good happens after midnight.” and it is mostly true. I feel like when I look back on my life, a lot of my sin has occurred in the darkness. Sometimes alone, sometimes around others, but often in the darkness.
We see the word light many times in the Bible. We are called to “let our light shine before others.” in Matthew 5:16. We have all been given gifts to glorify God. God wants us to use these gifts to serve others.
I can picture God when he brought light into the world.I feel like He had a grin on His face, knowing the significance of what He was doing. He understood the big picture. He made it so light would conquer darkness. It still does! Never forget that however dark our life seems, whatever we are going through, God can bring a light to us at any moment.
How am I being a light to others?
Do I struggle with sin in the darkness?
Dear Lord, help us to hold onto the hope You have given us. This scripture is so comforting and is such a great reminder of how light will always defeat darkness. Continue to remind us of this. Amen.
Have a great day!
