Filled.

Genesis 41:38-39

38 So Pharaoh asked his officials, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?” 39 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are.

Have you ever met someone and you are just like, “What’s this persons deal? Why are they happy all the time. I have never seen them in a bad mood. EVER. They must be faking it. Or if they aren’t, I want what they are having!” Maybe it’s just me, but I am drawn to those people.

The person that comes to my mind first is Chris Morgan. He is the chaplain for University of Louisville Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Every time you see this man he is smiling! He is never in a bad mood. He always brightens up my day with his joyful spirit. I think this is a little bit what Jesus was like.

Stay with me, verse 38 says, “Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?” They could see Joseph was filled with the spirit. What does this look like. I think it looks a little like Chris and many others I have ran into who are consistently joyful. These people are so in tune with Jesus and have such a solid relationship that the only thing to do is to be filled with the Spirit.

The point I want to make is there is something to be said when people see you and they see Jesus. This should be our goal. Not to glorify ourselves, but to use our lives to glorify Jesus. That way people will see Jesus through us. My hope is one day people will say, “When I see Colin, I think of Jesus.” That would be the biggest compliment someone could ever give me. I am getting emotional thinking about it.

Go out and love people like Jesus would and build a relationship with him. This will fill you with the Spirit and ultimately glorify His name.

Am I filled with the Spirit?

How can I better shine Jesus through my life?

Dear Lord, thank you for the opportunity to be friends with you. I want to be your best friend. Once I do this, I know you will begin to work in my life even more. I love you! Amen.

Have a great weekend!

C. Lyman
