“I am Joseph!” He said to his brothers. “Is my father still alive?” But his brothers were speechless! They were stunned to realize that Joseph was standing there in front of them.
Alright! So this blog post is going to look a little sloppy. Forgive me. Hopefully the content can make up for it. So here we find Joseph who has been sold into slavery by his brothers and now is the ruler of Egypt. He is finally back in touch with his brothers after several years, but they do not recognize him.
Have people ever not recognized you? I know this happens to me all the time! In college, I had a HUGE beard and longer hair. Now, I sport a tamed beard with a short classy haircut. Occasionally with some specs. What’s the point? People I’ve known for years won’t recognize me! I think this is how we should be with our faith.
Wouldn’t it be cool if a few years from now we reconnected with old friends and we were totally different. Our hearts, our minds, our bodies. Hopefully for the better. Listen, you’re never staying the same. You’re either getting better or getting worse. Whether it’s your faith, your knowledge, you name it.
Jesus wants this for us. He is a God of change. He wants us to continue to grow out of our old selves and into a new life. Not just once. Not just twice. But every day! How exciting is that? I hope you see the opportunity and run with it.
How can I take one step closer to Jesus?
Am I the same person I was 4 years ago?
Dear Lord, remind us daily that you are worth following. You are worth giving our life for. Amen.
Have a great week!
