Genesis 50:20

20 You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result—the survival of many people.

Joseph’s brothers planned to kill him earlier in Genesis and he was eventually sold into slavery. Pretty evil if you ask me. God had different plans. Plans to turn this darkness into light. It all worked out perfectly, just as He intended.

Romans 8:28 tells us, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose.” This is an example of this very concept. God turning something bad into something good!

God does this all the time. He has done it with me. He took me when I was broken, alone, lost, and living in darkness. He invited me into the light. He turned me, a regular guy, into a Son of God. We all have the opportunity to receive this. We all have the opportunity to share this with others.

Jesus is pretty creative. He likes doing this backwards. In order to be loved, we must love. In order to be understood we must understand. He died on the cross so we could live. Makes sense now, but no one understood what he was doing at the time. Even the disciples! Don’t be surprised if you don’t understand now.

God turns bad into good. Evil in to greatness. Brokenness into freedom. Loneliness into community. We aren’t perfect and never will be. With that said lets look into our lives and find an opportunity for Jesus to work in us.

Has God ever turned something bad into something good in my life?

Who around me needs to know Jesus?

Dear Lord, you are almighty and all knowing. I am so thankful I don’t have to rely on myself, but rather I can rely on you for everything. I love you! Amen..

Have a great day!
