4 The Lord said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the Lord, so that the Lord’s fierce anger may turn away from Israel.”
The leaders had been practicing some sexual sins before the Lord spoke to Moses here. God ain’t having it. He brings the darkness to light, then, now, and forever. Don’t expect this character trait of his to change. He is consistent and doesn’t change much, if at all. Because He is perfect!
It’s Friday! I am hoping the week is finishing strong as you head into your long weekend. Anyways down to business. We have all been exposed before. I’ll never forget it, the most vivid memory of being exposed. I was in elementary school and one day I decided, “I’m going to start swearing. It is the cool thing to do. Lets freaking go.” I was at a baseball tournament just swearing it up, f this, f that.
My mom came up to me at the end of the weekend and said, “Honey, I heard you have been swearing? Is this true?” I was mortified. My sweet little angel of a mother had just exposed me for being a potty mouth. I got red as a cherry and denied it. Best believe I have never swore since then. Okay maybe a few times, but cut me a break!
What’s the point Colin? Here it is, when we do things against Gods will, we will eventually be exposed. Mark 4:22 tell us, “For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light.”
As we head into the New Year, I pray we begin to bring our struggles with sin to God. Bring our darkness to the light. This will strengthen our relationship with Jesus and will help us lead others out of darkness.
Have I been exposed before?
What can I bring out of the darkness to Jesus?
Dear Lord, thank you for your Son Jesus who allows us to live in the light and carries us out of darkness. Let us come to you in the dark and in times of need. You are our rock. Amen.
Have a great weekend!
