2019.

Matthew 1:24

24 When Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded and took Mary as his wife.

My time off gave me some clarity and some time to think about the blog and what my hopes and dreams are for it. Here is a little of what I came up with. I want this blog to be for anyone. Believer or not, my hope is that anyone can take away something from this blog. Second I want to really learn about Jesus more with you guys. We can definitely do this in the Old Testament, but I want to get into the life of Jesus.

With that said, what better spot to start than the first book of the New Testament, Matthew. Here Joseph is contemplating leaving Mary because she is pregnant. Can you imagine all the people during the time? Probably talking about him behind his back and slandering him? Joseph had to have faith that what he heard from the angels was true once he changed his mind about leaving Mary.

We are lucky enough to live in a country where faith is embraced. Jesus is embraced. Jesus is cool. This isn’t the case everywhere. People are being tortured and killed for proclaiming the name of Jesus. There is something special about giving your life for something greater than yourself. That’s what Jesus did for us and it is what He asks in return.

He doesn’t ask for us to physically die, as He did. He asks us to lay down our life for others. Give up our selfish ways to serve others and in turn serving Him. Jesus wants you. He chose you. You were perfectly thought about before the beginning of time itself and Jesus died for YOU! He didn’t just die for people who go to church or people who appear to be good. He died for you and all your imperfections. He loves you despite all you have done and will do. He will never stop chasing after you.

I can’t wait to encourage and grow with you in 2019. I pray God uses you all as a light to the world to shine His name. I want to ask you to pick out one word God has put on your heart for 2019. Maybe something He wants you to work on. Maybe a word of encouragement. Last year my word was Embrace. I wanted to embrace the uncertainty God placed ahead of me with love and joy. God helped me do that. Write your word down. Pray about it.

What are my goals for 2019?

What is my word for 2019?

Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of hope that you have given us. Thank you for being our friend. A friend we can talk to at any moment and share our heart with. You are perfect in all your ways and we thank you for being someone worth following. Amen.

Have a great week!

C. Lyman
