17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son,whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Wouldn’t we all love to hear that from a voice from heaven. Words of affirmation is one of my love languages so this would especially hit home for me. Backing it up for a second, why does this even happen? Well, Jesus is baptized. Could you imagine being John the Baptist. Like, hey, no pressure, but I need you to baptize the Savior of the WORLD.
I would’ve been shaking, my heart rate would’ve reached an all time high. Anyways, baptism is so special. I cry undoubtedly at three events: weddings, funerals, and baptisms. I just picture God saying this verse and smiling down, while all of heaven is roaring with cheer. Gosh what a sight.
What is baptism? Why do I have to get baptized? Well baptism for me, to put it simply, is an outward sign of an inward change. Baptism is expressing to yourself and everyone else the change God has produced in your heart. The way I look at it, anything Jesus did, can’t be a bad idea to do it too.
Baptism is so special to me. It reminds me ever single time that Jesus can produce miracles. That Jesus changes lives. That Jesus is real. People that aren’t sure about Jesus, I tell them this, “You can’t argue with a changed life.” Jesus brings people from valleys to mountain tops. He uses the most unassuming people to change the world. Jesus changes lives. If He hasn’t already, He can change yours too.
Have I been baptized?
What does baptism mean to me?
Dear Lord, thank you for John the Baptist and his humility to serve you. Thank you for giving us an example of how to live life. Thank you for the gift of baptism where we can show others our life is for you and nothing else. We love you Jesus. Amen.
Have a great weekend!
