Matthew 4:1

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

It’s weird to say, but I love this. There is so much we can take away from this verse in learning about Jesus. Read it one more time to make sure you fully understand it. Jesus was LED BY THE SPIRIT into the wilderness on purpose. It didn’t just happen. This was planned. God wouldn’t have fully experienced what it was like to be us if he was never tempted.

If we read on, we see that Jesus answered Satan with Scripture. Wow. How powerful is that? Imagine if you were confronted by Satan. It happens every day! How do you combat it? How do you know what is right and wrong? This is where scripture is important. It is our truth that protects us from evil.

I have recently been putting bible verses on my apple watch. Every time I look at my watch, I now see a Bible verse that God has put on my heart. I would encourage you to do something similar. Maybe your phone background or laptop screensaver. Seeing scripture consistently gives us a weapon for the fight.

Jesus was tempted. He knows what we are going through. He knows the feelings behind it. He was strengthened by it, but He never gave in. When you are tempted, look to Jesus. Ask for help. Pray. Jesus is there waiting for your call. He wants to help, we just have to let Him. You are either getting closer to Jesus or further from Jesus, you are never staying in the same spot. Lets make sure nothing comes between us and Jesus.

Do I meditate on scripture consistently?

What can I do to see scripture more?

Dear Lord, thank you for being the perfect example of strength in battle. I pray we use You and Your word when we start to hear whispers of evil. May you protect us and comfort us. We love you! Amen.

Have a great week!
