21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Look around you. What are your treasures? What do you cherish most? What is your effort put into? Well if you are unsure, ask yourself a few questions. What do I put my time into? And what do I put my money into? A wise man once told me that you can tell a lot about a person by looking at their bank statement.
Most people have a large majority of their day that is fixed. For most it is a job of some sort. Once your work day is over, what do you do? Our free time says a lot about where our heart lies.
Lately I have been trying to fill my free time with people. I want my treasure to be others and I know my heart will follow. It hasn’t always been like this. There are seasons where my treasure is myself. Video games, netflix, you name it, I would just sit in my room alone and enjoy life, alone. Pretty sad to read and think about, but it is what many of us are doing on a regular basis.
I want to identify where our treasure is so we can begin to see where our hearts are at. Proverbs 4:23 tells us to, guard our heart because everything we do flows from it. Everything we do. You always here people say follow your heart, follow your heart. We naturally follow our hearts when we are in tune with who are heart is for.
Our ultimate treasure is Jesus. When we allow Jesus into our hearts, His love begins to flow out of us. We begin to see others different and put them before ourselves. Jesus didn’t come for just you to find your treasure either. He came for ALL people to find their treasure in Him. Jesus is why all things exist and for me Jesus is the reason I live my life.
Where does your treasure lie?
What is my time and money put into most?
Dear Lord, thank you for making us your treasure. May we take a moment to really feel your love upon us. You are so good and I pray we begin to treasure you more. Amen.
Have a great day!
