Promise.

Acts 2:39

The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off-for all whom the Lord our God will call.

I will never forget learning what my goal here is on earth. I was sitting in a hotel room with my Uncle Bob in Cape Cod. I had just finished a game and we were winding down getting ready for bed. He began talking about some deep stuff pretty quickly, which I wasn’t in the mood for. I listened and the words that stuck with me are this, “My goal on earth is to bring all my friends and family with me to Heaven. If I can do that, I will have done my job.”

The promise Jesus gives us is so simple and is available for everyone. My belief is that Jesus has given everyone an invitation to be a part of his kingdom. The question is when or if you will RSVP for the party! To me, this is the most important invitation you will ever receive.

If you have RSVP’d, my challenge for you would be to invite others to join you. How can you do this? By showing others a love only Jesus could have shown. I have seen more than ever recently, people will listen to you when they see you care about them. “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”

If you haven’t RSVP’d, my encouragement would be this… don’t let other people ruin Jesus for you. People are full of flaws, while Jesus is perfect in every way. What I love most about Jesus is his consistency. He is, was, and always will be by my side for encouragement, a challenge, to chat, to pray, to strengthen, and so much more.

Whichever side you’re on, whether you have accepted or declined, know that Jesus is pursuing you and calling you. You can never be too far from Jesus to accept Him into your life. Trust me.

Who can I begin to show this promise to?

Have I accepted the invitation?

Dear Lord, I pray that we begin to invite you into our lives daily. Invite you into conversation and begin to share your perfect promise with others. Let us be patient, humble, and loving through it all. Amen.

Have a HUMP DAY!

C. Lyman
