Is it normal to lose trust?

Dear Lord, thank you for waking us up this morning. May we never take a day you have given us for granted. Remind us of the opportunities a new day brings. I pray you would teach us something new today about You. Amen.

1 Corinthians 1:9

God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

This verse HIT ME today. I will usually read a chapter of the Bible and see which verse stuck out to me along the way. I was stopped dead in my tracks by this verse and couldn’t find out why. Steadily reading and reading, finally it smacked me.

My trust for Jesus has been fading. I am not afraid to admit it. I think admitting it is how we start to fix it. If we are all being honest, I think we can all say we have lost trust in Jesus at some point. Maybe not all together, but in certain areas of our lives. I have recently been struggling with trusting my future.

I want so many things for my future, but they just don’t see to be happening. I have been getting wrapped up recently in my future that I am losing sight of the present. I can barely even see the present sometimes because I feel so distant from it.

God will do this… those were the words that stuck to me like honey. Ironically those words are sweet to the soul. They are a reminder that no matter what the world tells us, no matter what the enemy says; God is in control. God will give us the strength to get through. God will give us peace when we drift into the future.

Some of us have a tough time with this verse because it says, “…for he is faithful to do what he says...” What? No one is like that. No one says something and does it, 100% of the time. Well I am here to tell you, God does. God has shown me through my life and the lives of those around me that he ALWAYS does what he says he will.

My challenge to you this morning is to find something you have been struggling to trust God with. Really think about it. For me it is my future and my relationships. I want us to pray to God these words together today…

“God, you WILL strengthen me, for you are faithful to do what you say. God, you WILL lead me down the right path. God, you WILL fight for me. God, I WILL trust you.

Leave this message today knowing that Jesus wants a relationship with you. Jesus wants to become Lord of your life, in order to bring you to life. If you haven’t given Jesus a chance yet, I ask you to try it out. The worst thing that happens is it’s all a lie. The best thing that happens, is your life is changed forever in the best way possible.

I don’t know what my future holds, but I know who holds my future.

Thanks for reading! I am so thankful for all of your encouragement.

Have a great week!

C. Lyman
