What the heck did I just say?

1 Corinthians 2:13

13 This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.

Do you ever say something and you think to yourself, “What the heck did I just say?” I catch myself thinking this after I pray. I say to myself, “There is no way I just said that. I have never even thought of that before! Where did that come from? That was not me talking.” It is low key freaky, but I know for sure it is the Holy Spirit speaking through me.

You guys, the Holy Spirit is SO COOL. If you don’t know a lot about the Holy Spirit you can read 1 Cor. 2 more, or read anywhere in Acts! The Spirit should be our best friend. Well okay Colin, what does this mean though? Think about your best friend, what are some things you notice about that relationship?

I am lucky to have a lot of close friends. One that comes to mind is my friend Chandler. Chandler is always encouraging, challenging, and holds me accountable. We can talk about anything in our lives. Struggles and successes are always a part of our conversations. We know pretty much everything about each other. It is a very full relationship full of genuine love.

In this way, the Spirit should be your best friend. The Spirit is Jesus in you. How freaking cool is that?! We have the opportunity to talk with the Spirit whenever we want. Are you in a tough situation? Are you stressing out at work? Are your conversations awkward? The Spirit is here to help! Ask for peace. Ask for confidence. Ask for strength. Tell the Spirit how you are feeling and what you are thinking. It is through these conversations we can find clarity in our lives.

All in all, after Jesus rose from the dead, He left us the gift of the Spirit. The Spirit can speak to us and through us if we all it to. The Spirit is waiting to work in your life too. Through conversation, through prayer, through anything and everything the Spirit is waiting to work.

It took me a while to realize the Spirits presence in my life. Once I read and learned more about the Spirit, my life was changed forever. You get a new perspective on everything. It is the COOLEST thing ever. My challenge for you would be to learn more about the Spirit through the book of Acts. Then pray God would open your eyes to the wonder of the Spirit.

I am so excited for us all to continue to grow closer to Jesus through the Holy Spirit. I know being in touch with the Spirit and Jesus is how we will ultimately see the world be changed.

Dear Lord, thank you for your Spirit and all that it does for us. May we treat the Spirit as our best friend. Always remind us of the Spirits presence in our lives. Thank you for who you are and who you say we are. Amen.

Thank you for reading. Big shout out to all the DADS out there. Enjoy your fathers day. I promise the older your kids get, they will slowly see all you have done for them. THANKS DAD I LOVE YOU!

Have a great weekend!

C. Lyman
